Creative Communications for the Parish is an ecumenical Christian publishing company based in St. Louis since its founding in 1977. Its packages appear in the mailboxes of many Southern Ohio parishes in time for planning for the major seasons of the church year. They have everything from devotional booklets to liturgies for special services like Thanksgiving Eve containing special hymns, and even a sermon to fit the liturgy. This is a mailing list that it pays to be on. Their own description of their catalogs follows.

CSS was founded in 1970 by two Lutheran pastors, both alums of Hamma School of Theology at Wittenberg University. Pr Wes Runk remains its president. It is based in Lima, Ohio. The company offers a wide range of material usually at a level that most congregations can use without trained facilitators. Their prices are reasonable and sales happen often.
Their own description of themselves is: the leading Christian publisher of Christian Books, Lectionary Resources, Sermon Books, Sermon Resources, Worship Resources, Pastoral Resources, Children’s Ministry Resources, Children’s Sermons, and many other worship and pastoral resources to meet the needs of pastors and the global ministry.

Many congregations in this Synod have successfully used VBS programs from Group. One recent innovation is their Weekend VBS. This works well for small congregations. For 2013 the title is Hay Day with a farm theme.
