Rev. Kenneth George Hacker
March 2, 1954 – December 31, 2024
Pastor Kenneth George Hacker, 70, passed away peacefully on December 31, 2024, surrounded by the love of his family. Born in Ambridge, Pennsylvania, Ken was a man of deep faith, unyielding kindness, and a remarkable sense of humor that left everyone he met feeling comfortable and welcomed.
Ken attended Capital University in Columbus, Ohio, graduating in 1976 and then pursued his calling to the faith, graduating from Trinity Lutheran Seminary in 1980. For 44 years, he faithfully served the Evangelical Lutheran Church of America as a minister, shepherding multiple congregations and dedicating himself to nurturing the faith and growth of young people through church youth programs. His life was a testament to compassion, hard work, and unwavering commitment to others.
Ken’s passions extended beyond his ministry. A true “handyman” at heart, he loved woodworking and spent countless hours puttering in his shop, crafting with care and creativity. He enjoyed bicycling, listening to the Pirates ballgame, but above all else, he cherished joyful moments filled with laughter and silliness. Whether he was fixing something, sharing a joke, or offering a listening ear, Ken’s presence was a gift to all who knew him.
Ken is survived by his beloved wife of 48 years, Joy Hacker; his two sons, Matthew and Paul Hacker (Netanya Hacker); his cherished granddaughter, Lily; mother-in-law Marge Kearns; sister-in-law Karen Kearns; brother-in-law Mark (Mary Ann) Kearns and a loving extended family. As a faithful husband, loving father, and devoted grandfather, Ken’s legacy of love and selflessness will continue to inspire his family and friends for years to come.
The Hacker Family invites you to attend Ken’s calling hours to be held on Jan.15th from 5-7pm located at Uhrich-Hostettler English Funeral Home, Inc. in Uhrichsville, OH. A memorial service will be held to honor Pastor Hacker’s life and faith on Jan.16th at 4pm located at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, 53585 Old Infirmary Rd., Pleasant City, OH, 43772. In lieu of flowers, the family invites those wishing to honor Pastor Hacker’s legacy to consider making a donation to Mt. Zion Lutheran Church, where he served his final ministry.
Ken Hacker will forever be remembered as a hardworking, compassionate man who would do anything for his family. His faith and love were the foundation of his life, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
