LOFT: Book Study – The Book of Joy: Lasting Happiness in a Changing World by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu with Douglas Abrams
Where can lasting happiness and joy be found? This always has been a deep longing of the human heart. The more our world keeps changing the louder is the soul’s cry. The longer we are in this COVID-19 Pandemic, the more we become discouraged and less hopeful that happiness and joy will ever return. Join us to look for joy.
Over the course of two Saturday mornings, we will be meeting to explore this question by discussing the book entitled, The Book of Joy: Lasting Happiness in a Changing World. In this book, we overhear a conversation between two spiritual leaders and friends, The Dali Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu. We hear them reflect on their lives, their friendship, and the source of happiness and joy from their different religious traditions which have sustained their lives. From their wisdom, they offer concrete steps we can take to find true happiness and true joy. Come and join us as we discuss this important question, the obstacles which prevent us from obtaining joy, and the spiritual disciplines which can lead us toward living a life of deep happiness and deep joy.

At the intersection of faith and life is LOFT – Living Our Faith Together. The goal of LOFT is to engage lay people about big questions in small groups. Join us to talk about the hard stuff (like pandemics and other crises) and the things that bring joy and hope. LOFT opportunities are for everyone: the seeker, the doubter, the questioner, the certain. All are invited to join in a relaxed, friendly, non-threatening environment as we grow and strengthen our faith.
