A Thanksgiving Message to the Southern Ohio Synod

Oh give thanks to the Lord, for the Lord is good and God’s steadfast love endures forever.
(Psalm 136:1)
In this Thanksgiving time, as people of faith, we focus on not only giving thanks, but on God’s steadfast love that gives hope to the hopeless, forgiveness to the sinner, grace as a gift, and love that is forever.
What happens when we share in giving thanks for what God has done in Jesus? We are sent out to share our faith story as disciples who trust that the love we have received, freely, is a love that is to be shared with someone else. We are thankful for what we have and who’s we are in Jesus and it overflows our hearts through our words and actions.
I’m not going to ask you this year for what are you giving thanks. Rather, I’m asking you how are you living into God’s steadfast love: How has this love, for which we are thankful, changed your attitude or your life?
This year Thanksgiving leads right into Advent on Sunday, December 1st. Are you ready?
We in the Synod Office wish you a blessed Thanksgiving and trust that God’s love endures, forever.
Happy Thanksgiving,
+ Bishop Dillahunt and the Southern Ohio Synod Staff
