Complete Story

2018 Southern Ohio Synod Assembly

The 2018 Southern Ohio Synod Assembly will take place on June 1-2 at the Nationwide Hotel and Conference Center at 100 Green Meadows Drive South in Lewis Center, Ohio.

Our theme for assembly is Being Church Together: What does the Lord require of us? Our focus scripture is Micah 6:8. Our ELCA representative is Mr. Nick Kiger, Associate Director for Mission Support. In addition to bringing greetings from the ELCA, Nick will also be heading up a workshop on June 2nd. His workshop, along with three service projects and several other workshops will be offered on June 1 and 2. The topics are varied and should strike a cord with everyone in attendance. See descriptions for these workshops and service projects in the registration packet.

This year, in addition to our inspiring synod-wide worship service, we will be hosting a fellowship dinner before the worship service at All Saints Lutheran Church, 6770 North High Street, Worthington, Ohio. Assembly fees cover your dinner, should you choose to join us. We hope you will! We are grateful to the generous folks at All Saints Lutheran Church for opening their doors for both the fellowship dinner and worship service. This is a perfect example of being church together!

Please read the assembly registration packet carefully. You don’t want to miss out on any of the wonderful opportunities to participate in the life of the church while at assembly! As always, each congregation is encouraged to send two lay voting members, in addition to the rostered ministers serving their congregation under call. There is a new formula for assigning additional voting members for congregations. Please see the new continuing resolution on the Assembly website for details.

This year’s assembly is going to be uplifting, challenging (in a good way), and inspirational. Bishop Suzanne Dillahunt and the assembly planning team are excited to have you participate!
