Obituary for Rev. Jack Welch

Rev. Jack Thomas Welch, 82, of Cambridge, went home to be with the Lord on Sunday, September 4, 2016 at the Beckett House in New Concord, Ohio. 

He was born on September 17, 1933, in Clarksburg, W.Va.

Jack graduated from WVU in Morgantown, W.Va,. and from Lutheran Theological Seminary in Gettysburg, Pa., in 1959. Rev. Welch was ordained in June 1959, he served St. Paul's Lutheran Church in New Haven, W.Va. from 1959 to 1967; St. Lukes Lutheran Church in Marietta from 1968 to 1981. He served Holy Trinity Lutheran Church in Englewood from 1981 to 1990; then from 1990 to 1998 he served Christ's Lutheran Church in Cambridge, where he retired. 

Jack was a Hospice volunteer and Chaplain; a member of the Cambridge Rotary Club and had been past President from 1999 to 2000; a member of the Big Brothers & Big Sisters; and served on the YMCA Board, Civil Service Commission and Salvation Board. He proudly served with his ministry at Cambridge Health every first Wednesday of the month. 

He leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Marion Louise Welch; a daughter Renee Jeanne Welch of Santa Cruz, Calif.; two sons, Thomas Edward (Tracy) Welch of Matthews, N.C. and Jason Andrew (Cyndi) Welch of Allen, Texas; a sister, Ellen (Tom) Kotas of Albany, N.Y.; a brother Robert (Gail) Welch of Hickory, N.C..; five grandchildren, Lauren of Cleveland, Tenn., Jeff of Wilmington, N.C., Leah of Matthews, Texas, Graham of Tyler, Texas, Cora of Allen, Texas. 

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, September 10 at Christ's Lutheran Church, 1101 Steubenville Ave., Cambridge, with the Rev. Katie Kerrigan officiating. Burial will be in Northwood Cemetery.
