Obituary for the Rev. Edward Winter

Rev. Edward L. Winter, 91, of Eaton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 27, 2016, at the Vancrest Nursing Center in Eaton.

He was born June 20, 1925, in Granton, Wisconsin, to the late Louis and Lydia (Sternitzky) Winter. Rev. Winter was ordained June 20, 1954, in Granton, Wisconsin. He went on to serve the Lord for 47 years in in the following churches: St. Paul Lutheran Church in Seymour, Indiana, St. Paul Lutheran Church in Botkins, St. Paul Lutheran Church in Lancaster, Grace Lutheran Church in Eaton, Grace Lutheran Church in Castalia and retired as a Supply Pastor in 2001 from Zion Lutheran Church in Dayton.

He was a lifelong member of the Kiwanis Club, serving as Lt. Governor of Kiwanis from 1989 to 1990.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his wife Joan M. Winter, who passed away in 2015.

He is survived by his son Jonathan (Charla) Winter of Eaton, and granddaughter Shannon Winter of Erlanger, Kentucky; son David (Wanda) Winter of Eaton; sisters Joyce (Ron) Woodkey of Lake Tamahawk, Wisconsin and Marian (Clarence) Pannier of Davenport, IA; aunts Hertha Sternitzky of Neillsville, Wisconsin and Beth Sternitzky of Cherokee Village, AR; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Friday, September 2, at the Grace Lutheran Church, 111 Lutheran Drive, Eaton. Burial will be in Mound Hill Cemetery, Eaton.
