Obituary for the Rev. Norman Wegmeyer

The Reverend Norman Wegmeyer died April 2, 2016. He was 91 years old.

Pr. Wegmeyer graduated from Capital University in 1945 and the Evangelical Lutheran Theological Seminary in 1948. He began his service to the church as pastor in 1948 at St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Farmersville, Ohio and St. John Lutheran Church in Enterprise, Ohio. In 1960, he took on the role as Regional Director of Parish Education in Washington, D.C. From there he joined the staff of the American Lutheran Church in the Parish Education Department.

In 1984, he became Director of Continuing Education for Trinity Lutheran Seminary in Columbus, Ohio.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Georgia (Young) Wegmeyer; daughters and son-in-law: Linda (Paul) Larson of Seattle, WA and Kathleen Traiforos of Burnsville, MN; sons: Paul and David Wegmeyer of Columbus; grandchildren: Alexander (Emily) Larson of Bellingham, WA; Amalia Larson of Seattle, WA; Jeff (Jessica) Traiforos of Burnsville, MN; Jennifer Maxa of Eagan, MN; Jaclyn Traiforos of Chaska, MN and Jessica Wegmeyer of St. Louis Park,MN; and 6 great grandchildren.

A memorial service for Pr. Wegmeyer is scheduled for Saturday, April 9, noon -1 PM with a reception to follow, from 1-1:30 PM at Summit's Trace, 935 N Cassady Ave, Columbus, Ohio. The Rev. Leslie Fox will preside and The Rev. Don Huber will provide a reflection.
